Albert Birkett

Albert F. Birkett of Liberty, NY, a retired service technician for Verizon in Fallsburg, NY and a long time area resident, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 78.

The son of the late Donald and Helen Felts Birkett, he was born July 15, 1936 on Birkett Street in Carbondale, PA.

Albert proudly served Our Country in the United States Air Force from 1956-1961; he was a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545; a history buff; and was proud to have his pilot's license.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Wale Birkett, at home; three sons, Daniel Wale and his wife Emily of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph Birkett and his fiancAC.e Kelly Fox of Goshen, NY, and Adam Birkett and his companion Elizabeth Ortiz of Liberty, NY; three grandchildren, Collin, Guiliana and Gabriella; one brother, Philip Birkett and his wife Janet of York, PA; one sister, Charlotte Benasutti of Cresco, PA; brother-in-law, Michael Wale and his wife Paula of Pine Bush, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Birkett; and one sister, Carol Eckel.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 9 to 11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate.

Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553 or to a charity of one's choice.
