Alma E. Chlypavka of Roscoe, NY, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab and Residential Healthcare Facility in Roscoe, NY. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Charles and Helen G. Smith Burger, she was born May 1, 1923 in Kingston, NY.
In high school, Alma sang on the "On Wings of Song" live radio program in Kingston, NY; she was a graduate of Ithaca College; a member of the United Church of Roscoe since 1949 where she had been in the church choir and women's auxiliary. She had been a substitute teacher at the Roscoe Central School and had given private piano lessons for over 25 years. She enjoyed sewing and reading.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Chlypavka of Roscoe, NY; one son, Barry Chlypavka of Gerrardstown, WV; one sister, Elnora Decker of Poughkeepsie, NY; three nephews, John Decker and his wife Ann, Robert Decker and his wife Suzanne, and John Pavka and his wife Margie; two nieces, Elizabeth Pavka and Patrice Fisher and her husband John.
She was predeceased by her husband Bodan Chlypavka in 2010.
Funeral services will be private.
