Arthur D. Cole of Hurleyville, NY, a retired Correctional Officer and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, November 8, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 85.
The son of the late William and Alice Gear Cole, he was born July 10, 1936 in Divine Corners, NY.
Arthur served Our Country in the United States Army. After serving, he worked for over 30 years as a Correctional Officer at the Woodbourne Correction Facility in Woodbourne, NY; he worked alongside his wife as a co-owner of Cole’s Saddle Shop in Hurleyville, NY. He was a member of the Sheep Hill Rod and Gun Club, a member of the Hurleyville Cemetery Association, and a member of the Neversink-Roundout Antique Tractor Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue Garlinghouse and her husband Michael of Neversink, NY; his son, John Cole and his wife, Georgina of Hurleyville, NY; his grandson Justin Garlinghouse of Neversink, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia M. Economou Cole and two brothers, Robert and William Cole.
Visitation will be Friday November 12, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Friday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
Burial will be private in the Hurleyville Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY.
