Arthur Petersen

Arthur Albert Petersen, of Horton, NY, died at age 82 on July 17 at Roscoe Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Middletown NY, the son of Albert Petersen and Gertrude Petersen, who recently died at age 100. Arthur received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Antioch College in Ohio, and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by IBM for 30 years in Poughkeepsie, where he travelled throughout the US and Europe, leading the development of the 360 series computer. He retired along the banks of the Beaverkill River where he enjoyed trout fishing, developing his skills in fine woodworking, enjoying his collection of jazz music, and spending time with his family, who regularly visited from their working places around the world. His door was always open to friends and family. He remained active in mind, seeking understanding of the physical workings of the universe, and encouraging all that knew him to use their minds to their fullest potential.

He is survived by his wife, Lenore Petersen of Horton, his brother John Petersen of Bloomingberg, and three children: David Petersen, his wife Sherry King and daughter Kirklen of Great Falls VA; Stephen Petersen, his wife Judy Podziewski and their children Micah, Sanah and Miles of Walden, NY; and daughter Kristin Petersen and her husband Patrick O'Reilly of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also survived by his three step children Carol Plew and her husband Joe Plew of Stony Creek, NY; Tom Tully of Portage, WI; and son Gregory Pensiero of Washington State.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. 607-498-4929 or 845-439-5200 www-Harris-FH.com
