Barbara A. Sochinski of Parksville, a teacher's assistant for the Liberty Central School District and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her home. She was 56. The daughter of Barbara Caulfield Santoro and the late Nicola Santoro, she was born July 18, 1955 in Flushing, N.Y.
Barbara was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, N.Y. Barbara's thoughts: "People that come and go in our world have no idea what they mean to us. For that, I thank you. For what you leave us will never be forgotten."
Survivors include her husband, Steven Sochinski, at home; one daughter, Barbara A. Kelly and her husband Christopher of Parksville; her mother, Barbara Santoro, of Middletown; three grandchildren: Abigail, Madeline and Jacob; two sisters, Donna Biasi and her husband Wayne of Middletown, and Marie Saggese and her husband Ronnie of Montgomery; three brothers, Thomas Santoro and his wife Marina of Cornwall, Michael Santoro and his wife Angela of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Nicola Santoro and his wife Laura of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her two sons, Steven and Shawn Sochinski.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, N.Y. Father Joseph Juracek, O.F.M. will officiate.
Burial will be private in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, N.Y.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
