Barbara Taylor

Barbara Elaine Taylor of Parksville, NY a home maker and long-time area resident, died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY.  She was 83.

The daughter of the late David and Jenny Housecamp Bowen, she was born February 24, 1938 in Orangeburg, NY.

Barbara was a graduate of Nyack High School. She married Eric B. Taylor who she assisted with the caretaking of Camp Gan Israel in Parksville NY. She was an active assistive member of the Boy Scouts of Americas and a swimming instructor for Liberty Troop 95. She was an avid traveler and visited many countries with her friend Joy Ackerly.  In later years she was a communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY; she was a member and Past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a member of the Rosarian Society at St. Peter’s Parish.

Survivors include her husband, Eric B. Taylor, at home; three daughters, Judith Barnes and her husband Thomas of Tucson, AZ, Beverly Taylor-Fredenburg and her husband Edward of Liberty, NY and Constance Lescano and her longtime companion Blake Muthig; she had two sons, Eric B. Taylor Jr. and his wife Carmen of Tucson, AZ and Glen Taylor of Parksville, NY.  She had one surviving sister, Jean Bailey.  Barbara loved her 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Erica Carlson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, NY.  Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Barbara’s name may be made to The Catholic Daughters of The Americas Liberty Chapter, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, NY.
