Beatrice Higgins

Beatrice M. "Betty" Higgins of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Parksville, NY, a retired LPN with Loomis Hospital and Walnut Mountain Nursing Home, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Roberts Millea, she was born May 19, 1931 in New York City, NY.

Betty enjoyed living on their farm in Parksville and had served as the Secretary for the Sullivan County Conservative Party for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Chris Bode of St. Petersburg, FL, Michael Bode of Maywood, NJ and William Higgins of Sidney Center, NY; two daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Bivins and her husband Bruce of Lakeland, FL and Terry Higgins of Oakville, CT; six grandchildren, Ann Marie, Brendon, Tris, Willie, Christina and Mathew; and five great grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Jordan, Haley and Holden. She was predeceased by her husband William Higgins in 2009.

Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2014 from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 6, 2014 at 1 PM in the funeral home. Father William Scafidi will officiate.

Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY
