Bernice Ford

Bernice E. Ford of Roscoe, NY, a homemaker and a long time area resident, passed away, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at her home. She was 91.

Born in North Oxford, MA on May 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Laura B. Stafford Sanderson.

Bernice was a graduate of Chester High School. She was a long time member and a Past Matron of the Sullivan-Tammany Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Her favorite time of year was Spring time because of the warm weather, green grass, and especially the flowers. She enjoyed many winter trips to Georgia and Florida with her husband Stanley in their camper and motor home as well as her annual visits to Chester, MA to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed going for rides with her son Charles to see flowers in the spring and summer, the autumn leaves in the fall and the holiday lights and decorations on Christmas Eve. Most of her time in her later years was spent watching the numerous birds that came to visit the feeders outside of her kitchen window.

Survivors include one son, Charles Ford of Roscoe, NY; one sister, Lora J. Carrington of Chester, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley G. Ford, who passed away in 2007; four brothers, Earl, Elmer, Arthur, and William Sanderson; and one sister, Ethel Rice.

Graveside services and burial will be in North Cemetery in Oxford, MA, in the Spring.
