Bernice Mann

Bernice M. Mann of Liberty, NY, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 in the Skilled Nursing Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY.  She was 91.

The daughter of the late John and Bessie Kinne Maus, she was the youngest of their five children.  She was born March 10, 1927 in Acidalia, NY.

Bernice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Liberty, NY and had been a volunteer for many years in the thrift store at the church. She loved the outdoors, traveling, camping, baking, caring for her family and all kinds of crafts. She worked tirelessly to make elaborate dresses and outfits as she and her late husband enjoyed square dancing with the Happy Footers. She made clothing for all of her children and grandchildren and knitted sweaters and blankets for her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed painting and punch embroidery.

On April 17, 1949 she married the love of her life, Arthur Mann and they settled in Liberty, NY. Together they had two sons, Robert Edwin and Gary Lee.

Survivors include her son, Gary Mann and his wife, Jane of Livingston Manor, NY; four grandchildren: Timothy Mann and his companion, Diana, Brian Mann, Alys Mann and her companion, Joe, and Ashley Sullivan and her husband, Dustin; five great-grandchildren: Dylan Mann, Ayla and Esti Sullivan, Halle Thomas and Reid Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruth Kocher and Laverna Maus.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Mann; her son, Robert Mann; her daughter-in-law, Christine; and her brothers, Donald Maus, Edwin "Mickey" Maus, Walter Maus and Gerald Maus.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, October 11  in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 11 in the funeral home.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, 104 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
