Bonnie Lee Gildersleeve

Bonnie Lee Gildersleeve of Albemarle, NC and formerly of the Town of Fallsburg, NY, a retired cafeteria worker for the Fallsburg Central School District, died Friday, January 7, 2022.

The daughter of Agnes Mae King VanAken and the late George LeRoy VanAken, she was born on November 23, 1955 in Monticello, NY.

Bonnie is survived by one daughter, Gina Rivera and her husband Eddie; one son, Thomas L. Gildersleeve and his companion Dezarae Marshall; her mother, Agnes Mae VanAken; three sisters, Evelyn Davis, Rita Edwards, and Shari DiSanto and her husband Michael; one brother, James VanAcken and his wife Loretta; five grandchildren, Jordon and Jaydon Rivera, Elexis Gildersleeve, McKinzey and Zechariah Berchtold; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bonnie is predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Gildersleeve, Jr.; her father, George LeRoy VanAken; and two brothers, George “Butch” VanAken and Terry VanAken.

Bonnie enjoyed playing Bingo and her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 10 AM-12 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.  Funeral services will be 12 noon in the funeral home.  The Reverend Paul Minton will officiate.

Burial will be in the Glen Wild Cemetery in Glen Wild, NY.

Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
