Brenda Smith

Brenda Joy Smith of Livingston Manor, NY, a homemaker, caregiver, and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 61. Brenda was a compassionate, empathetic person who was there for those in need and had the rare qualities of a true care giver. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. She will be missed dearly by many.

The daughter of the late Arthur L., II and Irene Welch Bowers, she was born June 30, 1955 in Roscoe, NY.

Survivors include her husband, Scott J. Smith, at home; three sons, Leif Johannessen and his wife Lindsey of Eden, WY, Jesse Baum of Scranton, PA, and James Smith and his fiancAC.e Nicole of Parksville, NY; one daughter, Christy Willis of Roscoe, NY; two sisters, Anna May Husson and her husband Chuck of Roscoe, NY and Dawn Zweck and her husband Jim of Durham, NC; seven brothers, James Bowers and his wife Cheryl of Roscoe, NY, Jeffery Bowers and his wife Jamie of Livingston Manor, NY, Kenny Bowers and his wife Carol of NC, Arthur Bowers, III and his wife Colleen of Roscoe, NY, Robert Bowers and his wife Moira of Washingtonville, NY, David Bowers and his companion Patty of Livingston Manor, NY, Chris Bowers and his companion Melissa of Beaverkill, NY; four brothers-in-law, Kevin and Louise Smith of Spotswood, NJ, Doug and Jeanne Smith of Livingston Manor, NY, Eileen and Lee Leonard of Spotswood, NJ and Alvin Grund of Ferndale, NY; mothers-in-law, Rosemary Lynch of Whiting, NJ and Marie Sullivan Smith of Roscoe, NY; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Gary Bowers and Michael Bowers; one sister, Sandra Grund, and a nephew, Jeffery Bowers.

Visitation will be Monday, August 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. James O'Rourke will officiate.
