Bruce W. Denman, Jr. of Parksville, NY, son of the late Bruce and Clara Denman
died January 7th 2018.
He is survived by his wife Mardell of 67 years, sons Robert and wife Kathy, and Jay and wife Joyce, and daughter Janice and husband Greg Vurckio, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Plus his brothers Lee and Jack with several nieces and nephews.
Bruce attended the little one room school house in Unionville for 8 years, graduated Liberty High School and Rider College. After which he served 2 years in the U.S . Marines during the Korean conflict. Employed by the Sullivan County bank as an accountant for a brief period, he entered the insurance field as an agent and assistant manager for Metropolitan Life until starting the Denman Insurance Agency in 1960. With offices in Grahamsville and Shokan New York. After 50 years as principle of the agency he retired turning the business over to his son Robert with his wife Kathy.
Bruce served president of the Grahamsville Fire Dept., Chairman of the Town of Neversink Republican Party, as well as being a member of the Hayes Brook Hunting Club, Liberty Masonic Lodge, and Elks Lodge.
His hobbies were many and varied to hunting and fishing, golf, water dowsing, snowmobiling, reading, crossword puzzles, and for 18 years, harness horse racing throughout the Northeast with Harold VanAken. He also Co-owned and ran Old Mill Beach in Otisville New York for several years. In later years Bruce and Mardell enjoyed motor homing throughout the U.S. and Canada plus 2 trips to Alaska. They traveled to Mexico, Germany, Puerto Rico and Bahamas. And lastly spent 6 months a year at their Florida residence. We will always remember him saying “I have no bucket list” and he was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
