Carl J. Bonin of Beaverkill, NY, a retired Assistant Vice President for George A. Fuller Corporation, New York City, NY, and a long time area resident, died Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab. and Residential Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY. He was 84.
The son of the late Joseph and Anna Foscato Bonin, he was born June 29, 1931 in Teaneck, NJ.
Carl proudly served Our Country in the US Army from 1953 to 1955; he was a graduate of Duke University where he was an All-Conference football player his senior year; during his working career, he was involved with overseeing the construction of the Meadowlands Racetrack and the Brendan Byrne Arena (Izod Center) in the Meadowlands Sports Complex; he was an avid golfer and loved cooking pasta dishes and homemade soups, and he loved the Jersey Shore. He was an avid New York Giants Fan, attending the 1958 NFL Title Game against the Baltimore Colts, and becoming a season ticket-holder the next season.
Survivors include his wife, Delinda "Linda" Bonin, at home; one son, Gordon C. Bonin and his wife Catherine Des Prez of Hillsboro, VA; one daughter, Jo Ann Bonin of San Jose, Ca; and four grandchildren, Pieter, Nina, Willem, and Isabel.
He was predeceased one sister, Teresa Sharkey; and one brother, David Bonin and his wife Eileen.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 5-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, March 4, 2016 at 10 AM in Gate of Heaven Church, Highland Ave. Roscoe, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial will be in the Beaverkill Cemetery, in the spring or summer.
Memorial contributions in Carl's name may be made to the St. Aloysius Church, PO Box 206, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 or to a charity of one's choice.
