Charlotte Nead

Charlotte Mae Nead of Downsville, NY formerly of Roscoe, NY, went to be with her husband and great grandson on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at her home with her daughter Sherrie by her side. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Harry and Harriett "Hattie" Soules Van Der Mark, she was born December 14, 1928 in Livingston Manor, NY.

Charlotte had worked as a Chambermaid at the former Waldemere Hotel in Shandlee, NY for many years and later as a Nurse's Aide at the Roscoe Nursing Home for 19 years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, sewing, making quilts, pillows, Christmas ornaments and spending time with friends.

Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Beers and her husband William of Roscoe, NY, Muriel Cypert and her husband David of Neversink, NY, Sherrie Byington and her husband Timothy of Downsville, NY, June Nead of Georgia, and Ruth Nead of Walton, NY; one son, Olan Nead and his wife Cindy of Downsville, NY; one sister, Naomi Specht of Bloomingburg, NY; two grandsons, Kyle Beers and Charles Nead; four granddaughters, Jody Reed, Allison Gill, Hope Townsend, and Rebecca Byington; eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John M. Nead in 2000, her great grandson Brandon M. Reed in 1998, and a sister, Amy Young.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2 PM in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY. The Rev. Dale Ashby will officiate.
