Clarence V. “Butch” Decker, Jr. of Liberty, NY, a retired Post Master for the United States Postal Service and a lifelong area resident died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at his home. He was 71.
The son of the late Clarence V. Sr. and Violet Coney Decker, he was born October 29, 1946 in Liberty, NY.
Butch was a graduate of Liberty High School where he enjoyed playing sports, especially wrestling and football. He began his career at age 17 working at the Monticello Post Office as a letter carrier and later served at the Claryville, Kauneonga Lake, Eldred, and Livingston Manor Post Offices. He was a member of the United Post Masters and Managers of America. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his two daughters, Wendy Bullaro and her husband Frank of Liberty, NY and Tricia Klein and her husband Richard of Waverly, TN; seven grandchildren, Audrey, Darian, Jasmine, Tristian, Rich, Sarah, and Jacob. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Decker.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4-6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 6 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. David Coon will officiate.
Burial will be in the Claryville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Butch’s name may be to Sullivan Co. Sportsman Federation C/O Twila Herbert, 487 Peters Rd. Callicoon, N.Y. 12723.
