Cynthia Karson

Cynthia Karson of Hurleyville, NY a retired Administrative Assistant at Sullivan ARC and a long-time area resident, died Sunday, November 10, 2024 at her home, with her family by her side. She was 87. 

The daughter of the late Hymen Sherman and Anna Schwartz Sherman, she was born May 12, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. Cynthia was an avid antique shopper. 

Survivors include her son, Chris Karson and his wife Tracy of Hurleyville, NY; her nieces and nephews, Marc Sherman, Robert Sherman, Helene Padawer; her dear friends, Janet O’Rourke, JoAnn Eggleton, David Gordin and Anne-Louise Scandariato. She was predeceased by her husband, Julian H. Karson who passed away October 23, 1993, and her dear friend Margaret Ann “Margie” MacDonald, who passed away on February 26, 1976. 

Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 1 PM at the Sullivan Veteran’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate. There will be a buffet reception at Casa Mia in Hurleyville following the service.
