Donald N. VanDenberg of Parksville, NY, the retired co-owner of Hillside Greenhouses in Liberty, NY and a longtime area resident died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake, Liberty, NY. He was 95.
The son of the late Clarence and Ruth Fields VanDenberg, he was born January 18, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Donald proudly served Our Country during World War II in the United States Navy; he was a former member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #521; and a former member of the Liberty Lions Club. Donald enjoyed his horticultural work at the greenhouses and traveling all over the world.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn VanDenberg and his wife Bonnie of Claryville, NY and Dale VanDenberg of Liberty, NY; one sister, Phyllis Barbee of Bedford, MI; two granddaughters, Jennifer Pisaniello and her husband Michael of Neversink, NY and Amy Smith and her husband Craig of Holland Patent, NY; three grandsons, Michael VanDenberg and his companion April Wright of Grahamsville, NY, Kevin VanDenberg of Liberty, NY and Daniel VanDenberg of Liberty, NY; five great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Michigan.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion VanDenberg on April 4, 2021; one grandson, Jonathan VanDenberg; two sisters, Virginia VanDenberg and Marge Travis; and one brother, Paul VanDenberg; and one daughter-in-law, Carol VanDenberg.
Memorial services will be private.
