Dorothy H. DeVantier of Roscoe, NY, the retired co-owner of Roscoe Lumber Yard, Roscoe, NY and a long time area resident passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Royal and Rose Stephen Hebbard, she was born October 21, 1924 in Paramus, NJ.
Dot moved to Roscoe in 1948; she was a communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church, Roscoe, NY; a member of the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club for 65 years; a charter member and board director of the Roscoe NY O&W Railway Museum; and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and active community member who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one son, Peter DeVantier and his wife Patricia of Roscoe, NY; two daughters, Jacqueline France and her husband Terry of Roscoe, NY and Joan Stevenson and her husband James of Roscoe, NY; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul DeVantier in 1984; one sister, Rosalie Crawford; and two dear friends, Gwen Hendrix and Betty Grossman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10 AM in the Gate of Heaven Church, Highland Ave., Roscoe, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
