Dorothy Gozza

Dorothy Foster Gozza of Liberty, NY a lifelong area resident passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 90.

The youngest daughter of the late Hubert and Christiana Mueller Foster, she was born May 14, 1926 in Livingston Manor, NY.

Dorothy graduated from Livingston Manor Central School Class of '43. She had worked for the NY Telephone Co. as an operator and in the business office and she later became the Intake Coordinator for Sullivan Co. Public Health Nursing from 1978-1988.

Dorothy was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY; she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, since 1948; and a member of St. Peter's Rosary Society and St. Peter's Choir. She was instrumental in the creation of the Children's Shop at St. Peter's Church in Liberty, NY, and hosted children from NYC through the Fresh Air Fund demonstrating her love for children. Dorothy also provided meals through the church for families in need.

Survivors include her children, Candace & John Gabel, Gail Gozza, Peter Gozza, Teresa Gozza, Ronald Gozza, Mary & Mitchell Cohen, Timothy Gozza, Linda & Dan Borgmeyer and Christopher & Jody Gozza; grandchildren, Christina Williams, Amy Favre, Lisa Rossi, Drew Manzi, Susan Blasi, Melissa Reid, Courtney Amodie, Nicholas Gozza, Carly Gozza, Ian Poley, Jamie Brelsford, Valentina Gozza, Robert Gozza, Austin Gozza, Derik Bernhardt, Marcello Gozza, Dominic Gozza, Dimitri Gozza, Ashlee Galbraith, Christian Mancino, Jessica Gozza, Lily Gozza, Grace Foster Gozza; and great grandchildren, Jasmine Davis, Hunter Williams, Lucas Williams, Tyler Williams, Christopher Manzi, Brendan Manzi, Sophia Blasi, Emilia Blasi, Bradley Reid, Jacob Reid, Anna Reid, and Miles Amodie.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Gozza on April 20, 1999; two sons, William and Robert; one grandson, John Gabel; six sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main St. Liberty, NY. Father Edward Straub and Father William Scafidi will officiate.

Burial will be private in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
