Douglas Goldsmith

Douglas Floyd Goldsmith of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired machinist and supervisor for Inter-County Corp. and Inter-County Farmers Coop., Woodridge, NY, and a long time area resident died Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 77.

The son of the late Richard Floyd and Beatrice Etta Martin Goldsmith, he was born April 19, 1938 in Middletown, NY, NY.

Douglas proudly served Our Country in the US Army from 1956 to 1962; he was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church; a member of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department for over 50 years; and a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge # 521 F&AM; he had also retired as a school bus driver and for many years, tended his vegetable gardens and sold his harvest. Douglas enjoyed spending his time outdoors and with his friends and family.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula Clark and her husband Bill of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Mary Lee Murakami and her husband Shintaroh of Japan; two sons, James R. Goldsmith of White Sulphur Springs, NY; and Carl A. Goldsmith and his companion Rose Marie Chan of Kuwait; five grandchildren, Christopher Goldsmith, Stephen Clark, Erica Clark, Riona Murakami, and Micah Murakami; one brother, Albert Goldsmith and his wife Judy of White Sulphur Springs, NY; one sister-in-law, Ginny Goldsmith of Walton, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor I. Mallery Goldsmith on July 25, 2015; and two brothers, Clifford Goldsmith and Ted Goldsmith.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

The Liberty Masonic Lodge # 521 will conduct masonic services at 7 PM Thursday evening in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
