Edna Smith

Edna H. Smith of Liberty, NY, a retired secretary for the Liberty Medical Group, Ferndale, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her home. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Fred A. and Augusta Vakiener Fries, she was born February 9, 1932 in Youngsville, NY.

Edna had also worked at the Loomis Hospital in Liberty, NY; she enjoyed tending her flower gardens, painting and wood carving.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen Smith and his wife Kathi of Neversink, NY, Michael Smith of Liberty, NY, and Alan Smith and his wife Susan of New Zealand; four grandsons, Christopher, Matthew, Zane and Zachary; and her sister, Marion Fries of Youngsville, NY.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter O. Smith on December 13, 2012.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Cold Spring Road, Liberty, NY.
