Edna York

Edna B. York, 89, of Liberty, NY passed away Monday August 5,2019.

Edna was born May 27, 1930 in Liberty, NY to the late Elsa and Herman Bressler.

She attended Liberty High school, worked as an operator for the NY Telephone Co. before she became a homemaker.

Edna is preceded in death by her husband Wayne York.  She met Wayne at the phone company and they were married until his death for 63 years.

Edna was a homemaker, an avid knitter, and a wonderful cook.  She loved helping other people and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  Edna was the great niece of Otto Hillig.  As a young girl, along with her siblings, planted a lot of the trees around the Hillig Castle.

Edna is survived by her children Rhonda (Paul) Goodwin, Kurt (Janet) York and Deidra (Rocco) Gennaro; 6 grandchildren Chelsea and Mackenzie Goodwin, Bradley and Konrad York, Olivia and Joseph Gennaro; 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Edna is preceded in death of her 9 siblings; Herman Bressler, Elsie Kelly, Alma Curran, Olga Fritz, Margurete Rupert, Helen Sherwood, Irmgard Starr, Gretel McCausland and Otto Bressler.

Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11 AM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate.

Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
