On the afternoon of June 19, 2015 Edward (Eddie) Anthony Vallone, Jr., 64, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Roscoe, New York.
Eddie was born in Queens, NY. He was the second child of Jeroloma and Edward A. Vallone, Sr.
There was always a little magic and mischief in the air and adventure to be had when one was with Eddie. He possessed a perpetual quietness of heart and great humility. He was an articulate, accessible human being with a genuine smile, though his character demanded respect-which he received effortlessly. Eddie had a commanding slim stature with elegance and poise which lead all who knew him to suspect him a Duke reincarnated. Eddie was a great innovator in finding new and more efficient ways for things complex or small to work. He embraced the differences that made all people unique regardless of ethnicity, religion, social class, gender or age.
Eddie's life is treasured and remembered with love by his life partner and multi-decade sweetheart Christine Knickerbocker; Linda DeSabato, sister; Philip Vallone, brother and sister-in-law, Donna; niece Denise Pisapia and her family; nephews, Michael DeSabato and Philip, Jr. and Nicholas Vallone; cousins Eugenia DeVito, Anthony E. Vallone and the Ditomassos; godson Sebastian Durante; companions, Felon, Tess and Salma and many other relatives, friends and fellow voyagers.
In 1979, Eddie was a partner in the founding of the 2nd generation of Vallone family of bus companies. He was a retailer and independent restaurateur in Roscoe, NY and Rio, FL, manager of a social club in Los Angeles, CA and operations manager of a boat restoration company in Miami, FL. Eddie was a US Coast Guard Licensed Merchant Marine Master of Sail and Motorboat. He was a Communications Airman in the US Airforce Reserves and a member of the 213th Geela Squadron, Sheppard Airforce Base, Sheppard TX. When a young man, his six foot five foot frame was "tall in the saddle" as a Working Stock Horse Performance Champion.
Eddie's remains will be cast as a building block and placed in the sea as part of the Eternal Reefs Memorial, a permanent living legacy that helps to preserve and protect the marine environment for the benefit of future generations of mankind and aquatic life. A memorial marker will also be placed at Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe, NY.
Family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate the life of Edward A. Vallone, Jr. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to: The Los Angeles Water Keeper at lawaterkeeper.org or The Everglades Foundation at www.evergladesfoundation.org
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. 607-498-4929 or 845-439-5200 www.Harris-FH.com
