Eleanor M. Grant of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY. She was 96.
The daughter of the late Isaac T. and Hazel Bowers Hogencamp, she was born December 26, 1917 in Liberty, NY.
Eleanor married her late husband, W. Wilson Grant on June 19, 1938 in White Sulphur Springs, NY; she retired as a Secretary for Liberty Central High School in 1973; she was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and past president of the United Methodist Women; she was a member, past secretary and past president of the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens.
Survivors include three daughters: Flora Francisco and her companion, Robert Chapman, Judy Goldsmith and her husband, Albert, and Elaine Kelly and her husband, Terry, all of White Sulphur Springs, NY; one sister, Elsie Tate of White Sulphur Springs, NY; and one brother, Lester Hogencamp and his wife, Sue of White Sulphur Springs, NY; seven grandchildren: Lisa Old of West End, NC, Jessica Renfrew of West End, NC, Richard Muhlig of Preble, NY, Christa Goldsmith of Chesapeake, VA, Owen Goldsmith of White Sulphur Springs, NY, Matthew Kelly of Annapolis, MD, and Adam Kelly of Penfield, NY; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband W. Wilson Grant on February 4, 1987; and her longtime companion, Raymond Edwards.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, February 24th in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25th in the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Route 52, White Sulphur Springs, NY; Rev. Kenneth Rogers will officiate. Burial will be private in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
