Ellen Kelly

Ellen M. Kelly of Hurley,NY, formerly of Liberty,NY, a retired Deputy Clerk and Treasurer for the Village of Liberty, Liberty, NY, died with her family by her side on August 1, 2012 at Albany Medical Center, Albany,NY. She was 91. The daughter of the late Denis and Ellen Scannel Healy, she was born September 10, 1920 in New York City,NY.

Ellen lived in Liberty, NY for much of her married life. She was a talented Irish step dancer. She was a long time member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Mary Anthony. She retired in 1979 as Deputy Clerk and Treasurer for the Village of Liberty. Upon her retirement, Ellen and her late husband John moved to Belleview, Florida for twenty years and lived in the Kingston, NY area for the last twelve years.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen Fletcher and her husband Thomas of Hurley, NY, and Maureen O'Connor and her husband Dennis of Carmel, NY; one son, John J. Kelly of Canton, NC; her grandchildren, Tara Barooah, Drew Fletcher, Crystal Moylan, Kevin O'Connor, and Christopher O'Connor; and her great grandchildren, Taylor, Neal, Connor, Daniel, Paul, and Kristen; one sister, Margaret Sullivan of Dumont, NJ; and two sister-in-laws, Kathryn Healy of Maryland and Melvina Kelly of Jeffersonville, NY; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ellen was predeceased by her husband John F. Kelly on May 4, 2011; a son, James P. Kelly; a daughter-in-law Carol Carlyle Kelly; one brother, Daniel Healy; and one sister, Julia Murphy.

Ellen will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty,NY.

The Catholic Daughters will conduct services Sunday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Father Joseph Juracek OFM will officiate.

Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran'sCemetery Sunset Lake Road,Liberty,NY.

Memorial contributions in Ellen's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
