Ellen Tompkins

Ellen Ruth Tompkins of Downsville, NY, a retired daycare provider and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY.  She was 68.

The daughter of the late Lloyd and Isabelle Eckert Williams, she was born June 20, 1950 in Margaretville, NY.

Ellen was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she was an avid reader.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Downsville Fire Department and a member of the Downsville Emergency Squad.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Gerald “Skip” Tompkins, at home; three daughters, Kelli Adamson and her husband Steve of Downsville, NY, Terri Nocella of Downsville, NY, and Karin Tompkins and her companion Joe O’Steen of Interlaken, NY; her grandchildren, Cierra Hand, Jacob O’Steen, Corra Nocella, Olivia May, Corbin May, and Austin Tompkins; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Stuart Williams and Graydon Williams.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 9 to 11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM in the funeral home.  Father Michael Shank will officiate.
