Eva J. Salazar, passed away on February 27, 2025 at her home with her family at her side. She was 75 years old.
She was born Eva Janet Jones on December 12, 1949 to the late Walter and Dorothy Jones in Liberty, NY.
Known as "Honest Eve”, Eva was honest to a fault; until her later years that is... when she became a little mischievous. She loved the one liners “This is the house that jack built." and “You have champagne taste and a beer pocketbook." and many others.
Eva was a Nursing Assistant for many years before going to work for herself cleaning houses. It was said, "She cleaned so well you could eat from the floors!" Eva was beloved by her clients and built lifelong friendships with many of them. She enjoyed “yard saling” both going to and having them. She would purchase things she didn’t really need just to give it all away to someone in need. Eva enjoyed playing cards, although a game of skip-bo would often turn into a game of 52 pick up! She loved to redecorate her house, she amassed more curtains, drapes and comforter sets than one human being could possibly need. She would paint the walls in the house so often, the running joke was that one day they would fall down! But Most of all, Eva loved to cook and spend time with her family. Yet, her favorite time of the year was the holidays, where she cooked our favorite meals and made sure no one went without! Even if she had to “rob Peter to pay Paul" to make it happen! She had a heart of gold and was constantly helping those less fortunate. She made sure those closest to her had the means to make life a little easier. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
Eva was predeceased by her parents; her significant other, Leon Morris; her brothers, Walter, Eugene and Freddy; her sisters, Hallie, Charlotte, Mary Jane, Catherine and Annabel; and one grandson, Christian Mata.
Survivors include her brothers, Frank Jones and his wife Carol and Lee Jones and his wife Rene; his daughters, Lisa and Lynne Pearl of Vero Beach, FL, Melisa and Salvatore Mata of Sacramento, CA; one son, Alex and his wife Billie Jo Salazar of Roscoe, NY; two granddaughters, Deanna Salguero and Alana Salazar; two grandsons, Bryan and Erick Mata; four great grandchildren, Tegan Salazar, Isabella Tyndale, Evaluna and Bryan Mata Jr.; and special friends, Sandra and Michelle; two special nieces, Annette Casiano and Monica Ryman and many others.
At Eva’s request there will be no services.
