Evelyn D. Banks, age 87, died peacefully on June 18, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Monticello, NY. Born in High Point, NC, she lived most of her life in Manhattan, and eventually retired to her summer estate in Roscoe, NY.
Evelyn, affectionately known as “Ev”, was gentle, kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor and love for life. Her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was loved by so many who were fortunate enough to know her. She loved classical music as well as popular songs…especially those of the 1960s and 1970s. She was an avid reader, her favorite author was Stephen King, and she was an expert crossword puzzle solver. In her prime, she read at least three newspapers a day, including The New York Times, The New York Daily News, and The New York Post.
Evelyn is predeceased by her mother Inez K. Price, husband Albert Alexander Reynolds, and oldest son Robert Gregory Banks, and is survived by her three children, Janet Marie Banks, Michael Alexander Banks, and Annette Banks Candido, grandchildren Rahdiah Barnes, Katena Carvajales, Janae Banks, William Boger, Michael Banks, Jr., Catherine Banks, Christine Banks, Clay Banks, Courtney Banks, Zachary Candido, Nicholas Candido, Dylan Candido, and several great grandchildren.
The viewing will take place at Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY on Wednesday, June 23 between 9:30AM and 10:30AM. A private graveside service will be led by Father Antony David of Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in her name to the American Stroke Association.
