Everett H. France of Horton Brook, NY, a retired foreman for the Department of Transportation for the State of New York, and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY. He was 87.
The son of the late Everett O. and Dorothy Shew France, he was born May 4, 1926 in Horton, NY.
Everett proudly served Our Country in the US Navy during WWII; he was a life member of the Harold Wood VFW Post # 5911 in Roscoe, NY; he was a charter member of the Horton Brook Free Methodist Church; he was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed hiking and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor J. Harris France, at home; two daughters, Gail Gunsalus and her husband James of Vestal, NY; and Cindy Hotaling and her husband Allen of Franklin, NY; one son, Terry France and his wife Jackie of Roscoe, NY; six grandchildren, Scott Gunsalus, Jonathan Gunsalus, Craig France and his wife Michelle, Brad France and his wife Jessie, Daniel Hotaling, and Amy Hotaling; six great grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, Emily, Jocelyn, Allison, and Noah; nine brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Dale France
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Yancey Brown will officiate.
Burial will be in the Horton Cemetery, Horton, NY.
