Floyd Young

Floyd J. Young of Downsville, NY, a self-employed bluestone cutter and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, NY. He was 74.

The son of the late Harold A. and Myrtle Elizabeth Ellett Young, he was born December 1, 1938 in Peakville, the Town of Hancock, NY.

Floyd proudly served Our County in the United State Army from 1963 to 1967; he was a member of the Frank Mead Eellis VFW Post #270, Walton, NY; and a member of the James S. Moore American Legion Post # 167, Downsville, NY.

Survivors include his wife, Concetta M. Fino Young, at home; one daughter, Diane E. Hammond of Bay City, MI; two grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Hammond and Douglas Alan Hammond.

He was predeceased by one brother, Harold Young.

Graveside services and burial with military honors will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 PM in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY. The Rev. Dale Ashby will officiate.
