Frances Scarvalone

Frances M. Murray Scarvalone of Millis, MA, formerly of Ferndale, NY died Monday morning, May 27, 2013 at Saint Patrick's Manor Nursing Home in Framingham, MA after a lengthy illness. She was 96.

The daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Powers Murray, she was born in Cadyville, NY. She was raised and educated in New York State and had been a resident of Ferndale for 53 years before moving to Millis in 2007.

After graduating from Plattsburgh State College she taught elementary school in Liberty for over ten years. She had been a Communicant of St. Peter's Church in Liberty and very active in the Parish, a faithful Rosarian and the church organist. She loved to be with her family and had been a caregiver to many of it's members, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband, taking care of animals and was an avid reader.

Frances is survived by her two loving daughters, Patsy Divver and her husband Phil and Mary Scarvalone; her cherished granddaughters, Emily, Martha and Claire Divver; she had been the endearing "Aunt Fran" to her niece, Nancy Sanford and her husband Brian and her late nephew Kevin Travis, her grandniece and nephew, Rebecca Lachaga and her husband, Dan and Kevin Sanford and his wife Michelle and her great grandnieces, Nicole Lachaga and Audra Sanford. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Scarvalone in 2007 and by her sister, Hilda Travios.

Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home 90 Curve St., Millis, MA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 1, 2013 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Millis, MA.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:45 AM in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, NY. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Cold Spring, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Frances' name may be made to a charity of ones' choice.
