Frank Debellis

Frank J. DeBellis of Roscoe, NY, a long time area resident died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was 89.

The son of the late Charles and Lucia Rosselli DeBellis, he was born February 15, 1929 in New York City, NY.

Frank proudly served Our Country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.  He was a member of the American Legion; a member of the Disabled American Veterans; a member of the National Rifle Association; and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  In his early years, Frank was a fireman with the Wyandanch Fire Department and a life honorary member of the North Babylon Fire Department on Long Island.  Frank was a mechanic by trade and could fix anything; he was an avid hunter and gardener.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Josephine Tracy DeBellis, at home; one son, Frank DeBellis, Jr. and his companion Harriet Gardner of Downsville, NY; two daughters, Paula Presutti and her husband Michael of Marlboro, NY and Mary Ann Niforatos and her husband George of Roscoe, NY; his grandchildren, Michael DeBellis, Nicholas Presutti, Angela Niforatos and her companion Bobby Roe, and Niko Niforatos and his wife Emily; one great granddaughter, Lucy Niforatos; several nieces and nephews; and his service dog, Lucia; and his faithful cat, Tommy.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Joseph DeBellis and his wife Antoinette.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11 AM in the funeral home.  Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Frank’s name may be made to the American Legion Post # 167, 1 Legion Lane, Downsville, NY 13755.
