Fred J. "Fritz" Kirchner, Jr. of Roscoe, NY, the retired president and co-owner of Kirchner's Chevrolet Corp.- Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Roscoe, NY, and lifelong area resident died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was 74.

The son of the late Fred, Sr. and Helen Kochan Kirchner, he was born January 8, 1942 in Liberty, NY.

Fritz proudly served Our Country in the US Army during the Vietnam War with the distinguished 1965 B Btry (Searchlight) 29th Artillery MACV-SOG; he was a distinguished president and member of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club, where he was the first member to serve as president three times; he was a member and past president of the Roscoe-Rockland Chamber of Commerce, where he served as president for five years; a member and past commander of the Harold Wood VFW Post # 5911; a member of the United Church of Roscoe, where he was active in the choir and the couples club; he was a member of the Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge # 791; and a former member of the Roscoe Hose Company #1; a member of the American Legion; a member of Chevrolet "Only the Best Service Managers Club"; and a member of Merrill's Farm Bowling Team. Fritz had also participated in the Liberty Men's Softball Association and had participated with the Catskill Chapter of the Antique Auto Club. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Fritz was a proud veteran, on November 8, 2015 he participated and was honored on the Leather Stocking Honor Flight to Washington D.C.; his son, Arthur Zegers, proudly escorted him.

Survivors include his wife Nancy J. Bennett Kirchner, at home; three sons, Arthur Zegers and his wife Amy of Malta, NY, Berton Zegers and his companion Kelly Weber of Mt. Dora, FL, and Roger Ernest Zegers and his wife Tanya of Bel Air, MD; two brothers, Ralph Kirchner and his wife Susan of Milford, PA and Gregory Kirchner and his wife Charlene of Altamont, NY; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Rowan and her husband Robert and Colleen O'Brien and her husband John; nephews, Charles Kirchner, Chad Rowan and his wife Alyssa, Patrick O'Brien, and Sean O'Brien; nieces, Karrie Kirchner-Jara, Kristie Gerber and her husband Howard, and Megan Kirchner; seven grandchildren, Arthur V, Morgan, Taylor, Zachary, Cole, Emma, and Jackson.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 2 PM in the United Church of Roscoe, Church Street, Roscoe, NY. The Rev. Joanne Utley will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd., Liberty, NY.
