Gary Young

Gary L. Young of Downsville, NY, a retired stone cutter for Johnston and Rhodes Bluestone Co., East Branch, NY, and a lifelong area resident died Monday, April 23, 2012, surrounded by his family at the M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. He was 61.

The son of the late Kenneth and Aleatha Odell Young, he was born August 15, 1950 in Walton, NY.

Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a member of the Campbell Brook Hunting Club; a former member of the O&Y Hunting Club; and a former member of the Downsville Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Young, at home; two step sons, Richard Mills and his wife Erica of Corbett, NY and Walter Mills and his wife Tamie of Corbett, NY; two daughters, Amy Young and her husband Darren of Walton, NY, and Jennifer Morris of Liberty, NY; one sister, Mary Lou Lacey and her husband Richard of Corbett, NY; one aunt, Naomi Peck of Livingston Manor, NY; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Young; and a granddaughter, Kayla Rae Mills.

Memorial services will be Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10 AM at the Colchester Community Church, Main Street, Downsville, NY.

Burial will be in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY.
