George Ferland

George H. Ferland of Liberty, NY, a retired custodian for the Liberty Central School District and a long time area resident died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY, with his loving family at his side. He was 86.

The son of the late Alec and Blanche LaMotte Ferland, he was born July 3, 1930 in Lowell, VT.

George proudly served Our Country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954; he was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church; a former member of the Clarence V. Hoyt VFW Post #9217; he was an avid New York Yankee Fan and NASCAR fan; he enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with his wife and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nathalie C. Forest Ferland, at home; two daughters, Debra Bivins of Liberty, NY and Cynthia Satterlee of Schenectady, NY; one son, Richard and his wife Debra Ferland of Port St. Lucie, FL; six grandchildren, Michelle (Carlos) Olives, Eric (Shea) Ferland, Tara Ferland, Kenneth (Jordan), Gregory Satterlee, and Jeffrey Satterlee; seven great grandchildren, Alexandra Olives, Leah Olives, Matthew Olives, Michael Satterlee, Eli Satterlee, RJ Berglund and Melinda Berglund; one sister, Georgette Theroux; three brothers, Henry Ferland (Josephine), Lawrence Ferland and Marcel Ferland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Lucien, Andre, and Roland; and four sisters, Lucienne LeBlanc, Delores Faucher, and Angelina Buzzell.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be on Saturday August 27, 2016 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Father William Scafidi will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
