George “Sarge” W. King of Ferndale, NY, a retired Road Patrol Sergeant with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris, NY on June 14, 2021. He was 82 years old.
The son of the late Edward R. and Hilda Eldridge King, he was born August 18, 1938 in Monticello, NY.
George proudly served his country in the US Army. He was also the Chief of Security at the Stevensville in Swan Lake, NY and the Browns in Loch Sheldrake, NY. George was a member of the Sullivan County Conservation Club, Fraternal Order of Police and the VFW in Woodbourne, NY
George is survived by his son, Michael A. King, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Ferndale, NY; his grandson, Michael A. King, Jr. of Ferndale, NY and his granddaughter, Ashlee A. Mulero and her husband Edwin of Livingston Manor, NY; his sister, Agnus Van Akan of Liberty, NY and many nieces and nephews; but his pride and joy were his great grandchildren, Alice King, Avianna King, Emily King and Elijah Mulero, who meant the world to him.
George was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother and will be missed by all. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara King; his son, George Robert King; his brothers, Robert, Eddie, Eugene, and Leon King; and two sisters, Anne Cooke and Amy Newhall.
Private graveside services and burial with military honors will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
