Georgine Finn

Georgine D. Finn of Liberty, NY, a retired kindergarten teacher for Liberty Central School District, Liberty, NY and a long time area resident, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her home. She was 88.

The daughter of the late John A. and Mildred K. Morse Doherty, she was born June 9, 1926 in Bay Shore Long Island.

Georgine was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, NY. She had taught at Liberty Central School District and St. Peter's Elementary School. She was a member of the Red Hat Society Ladies, the Sullivan County Retired Teachers Association, the Calico Geese Quilt Guild and the American Legion Corp. Russell Sprague Post # 109 Ladies Auxiliary, Liberty, NY.

Survivors include her two daughters, Katherine Menges and her husband Robert of Jeffersonville, NY and Marianne Sternkopf and her husband Richard of Washingtonville, NY; two sons, Frank G. Finn, Jr. and his wife Kristine of Jeffersonville, NY and James T. Finn and his wife Joy of Kenoza Lake, NY; two sisters, Audrey Nordland and Madeline "Lambie" Muller; two sisters-in-law, Gerry Doherty and Kitty Geiger; six grandchildren, Amy Goodstein, Brian Goodstein and his wife Danielle, Ricky Sternkopf and his wife Brianna, Dan Sternkopf, Jimmy Finn, and Erin Finn; one great grandson, Evan Goodstein; many loving nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Larry and Barbara Katz.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Frank G. Finn, on July 9, 2012; five brothers, John Doherty, James Doherty, Richard Doherty, George "Doppy" Doherty, and Ralph Doherty; one sister-in-law, Caye Doherty; and two brothers-in-law, Robert "Buddy" Muller and Tony Nordland.

Georgine's family would like to thank Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for all of their love and care.

Visitation will be Monday December 8, 2014 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10 AM in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main St. Liberty, NY. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd., Liberty, NY.
