Gerald W. McMurrer of Lake Muskoday, Roscoe, NY, a retired School Principal at P. S. 321 in Brooklyn, NY and a longtime area resident died Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Care One Skilled Nursing Facility in Wayne, NJ. He was 91.
The son of the late Frank and Minnie Judge McMurrer, he was born August 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY.
Gerry served Our Country in the US Army from 1954-1956, he is a member of American Legion Post #315; he was a founding member and former Treasurer of 1st Way Life Center of Sullivan County; he had been active and is a former lecture at St. Mary's Church in Obernburg, NY.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy E. Gillen McMurrer, at home; three daughters, Marie Blado and her husband Phil of Bloomfield, NJ, Dorothy Fachner of Montclair, NJ, and Kathleen Gregory of Bloomingdale, NJ; four sons, Gerald W. McMurrer and his wife Nancy of Kinnelon, NJ, Patrick McMurrer and his companion Gregg of San Francisco, CA, Stephen McMurrer and his wife Deana of Portland, OR, and Thomas McMurrer and his companion, Julia of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Frank McMurrer of Queens, NY; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 1-4 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church 264 North Main Street, Liberty, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate. Dignified cremation will be provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC.
