Gertrude Thomas

Gertrude A. "Trudy" Thomas of Downsville, NY, a retired Executive Secretary and Board Member for Cosmopolitan Insurance Company in New York City and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Kingston Hospital, Kingston, NY. She was 79.

The daughter of the late William E. and Grace M. Thorpe Ricker, she was born February 4, 1934 in Nyack, NY.

After retiring from her position in New York City, Trudy worked for many years as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Downsville Central School. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her pets.

She is survived by one sister, Grace Jones and her husband Harry of Downsville, NY; three nephews, Barry Jones and his wife Laurie of Downsville, NY, Craig Jones and his wife Sherrie of Campbell Hall, NY and Chris Jones and his wife Christina of Downsville, NY; and by several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Thomas in 1988.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY. The Rev. John Gillespie will officiate.

Burial will be private in St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
