On Friday, March 18,2016, Mr. Harold D. Allison left us peacefully after 88 years of life. Harold was born February 29, 1928, the son of the late Sydney and Augusta Dieffenback Allison.
Harold was a United States Navy Veteran having served from 1947 to 1951. Harold was employed by Boris Shalman Electrical, where he later became part owner. After, retiring in 1984 he continued to work from daylight to dark around his self-built home and always helping others with whatever they needed, including the Liberty Fire Hose & Truck Company #2, VFW, the Free Masons, Liberty Lodge # 521, United Presbyterian Church, and Covered Bridge Hunting Camp, all of which he was a member. Along with singing in a Barber Shop Quartet, he spent his Tuesday nights running Bingo at the VFW. Harold took great pride in maintaining the grounds around his home, especially his garden and beautiful flower beds. Anyone that knew Harold knows that he could fix anything and he always had the tools and materials needed on hand to do so. He prided himself in being able to repurpose and refurbish anything he put his mind to. From the time Harold was a young child working on his family farm, he had instilled in him a high standard of work ethics and values, which remained with him throughout his life. Harold loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with all of them. His stories and tales of times past will be remembered dearly by all of his family and friends.
Even in his final days, Harold talked about completing his "To do List,"things around his home. Although, he was unable to do them, his family is sure he is in heaven completing a new "To do List," which most likely includes building his famous stone walls.
Harold leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his children Lee Allison and wife Joan Allison, and daughters Linda Poje, Emily Ferring, and Malissa Allison(Tommy Lyle). Grandchildren, Erin Gorr (Mel), Frankie Poje (Tara), Michael Poje, Lainie and Anna Ferring, Rickey Copeland II, Matthew Copeland, and Elijah Allison, and nine great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
