Helen Audrey Goble, a lifelong resident of Liberty, New York, passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2021, at the age of 82 years.
Daughter of the late Andrew “Dutch” Rampe and Eula Spencer Rampe, she was born February 6th, 1938.
Helen was a graduate of St. Peter’s School and Liberty High School. She retired with 39 years of service from the New York Telephone Company. In that time, she worked in Liberty, Monticello, Binghamton, and Kingston as a supervisor, operator, clerk and trainer of new employees. After retirement, she worked in the office of many local schools.
Helen was an active member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, which she attended her entire life, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Trustee. She was a life member of the New York Telephone Pioneers and an active member of the Tuesday Pinochle group in Monticello.
Helen was an avid reader, card player, newspaper puzzler and Jeopardy! fan. She loved to travel, departing on many organized trips throughout the years. She enjoyed music, having a sweet spot for Elvis; and the theatre, attending Broadway shows, as well as being a seasonal supporter of the Forestburgh Playhouse. In later life, Helen enjoyed participating in the annual Sullivan County Senior Games. Although she was never the knitter her mother was, she certainly enjoyed it after retirement.
Helen was a strong woman with unwavering faith, who was deeply devoted to her family and cherished any time spent together with them.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; an older brother, Richard; her husband of 49 ½ years, Christopher W. Goble; her oldest son, Christopher Andrew “Andy” Goble; her only daughter, Kelli Ann Vasquez; her youngest child, Michael Joseph Goble; and her granddaughter, Eryn Kathleen Goble.
She is survived by her son William and his wife, Margaret Goble; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Vasquez, Margaret “Meg” Goble, and Christopher J. Goble; one great granddaughter, Jasmine Figuero; one sister, Joan Barnicott and her partner Art Bell of Cortland; one brother, James and his wife Mary Rampe of Lew Beach; as well as several wonderful nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends she made throughout her journey in life.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Liberty on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:45 AM with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating. Burial will follow the mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cold Spring Road, Liberty, NY.
