Helen Sherwood

Helen B. Sherwood of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired medical receptionist and a lifelong area resident died Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation and Residential Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Herman C. and Elsa Hillig Bressler, she was born December 18, 1931 in Liberty, NY.

Helen worked for 30 years in the offices of Dr. Alan Fried and Dr. Lewis Denman; she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Liberty, NY; a former member of the Livingston Manor Hoos Truck Auxiliary; she was an avid NY Mets fan and she enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. "Jack" Sherwood, at home; one daughter, Erika Barth of Cochecton, NY; one son, Craig Sherwood of Livingston Manor, NY; one granddaughter, Monique Fernstrom and her husband Captain Bradley Fernstrom of Greenwood, IN; two great grandsons, Christian and Steele; two sisters, Alma Curran of Liberty, NY, and Edna York and her husband Wayne of Liberty, NY; and one brother, Otto Bressler of Liberty, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Erik Karl Sherwood; five sisters, Elsie Kelly and her husband William, Olga Fritz and her husband Carlton, Marguerite Rupert, Irmgard Starr and her husband Henry, Gretel McCausland and her husband Mac; and one brother, Herman Bressler and his wife Mildred.

Visitation will be Monday, (today) July 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1 PM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chestnut Street, Liberty, NY. The Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate.

Burial will be in the Orchard Street Cemetery, Livingston Manor, NY.
