Helen Tempel

Helen A. Tempel of Roscoe, NY, a retired bookkeeper for the Roscoe Central School District and a longtime area resident died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, NY. She was 95.

The daughter of the late Edmund F. and Wilhelmina A. Rutz Stoesser she was born July 26, 1919 in Rock Valley, NY in the Town of Hancock, NY.

Helen served Our Country in the Army Air Force during World War II. She had been a communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe, NY; a member of the Roscoe NYO&W Railroad Museum; a former member of the Floyd Keener American Legion Post #315, Roscoe; a former member of the Harold Wood VFW Post # 5991 Ladies Auxiliary, Roscoe; a former member of the Roscoe Twin Villagers of the Cornell Co-operative Extension of Sullivan County; a former treasurer for the Rockland Fire District; a former member of the Twin Village Golf Club; and a member of the Wednesday morning ladies group.

Survivors include one daughter, Jo Ann Evans and her husband John of Roscoe, NY; four grandchildren, John P. Evans and his wife Stacy of Livingston Manor, NY, Mark Evans and his wife Faith of Youngsville, NY, Troy Evans and his wife Sally of Cazenovia, NY and Crystal Evans and her husband Paul Marco of Pennellville, NY; seven great grandchildren, Cortney, Joshua, Caitlin, Sarah, Timothy, Luke, and Samantha Evans; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-four and a half years, Paul G. Tempel in 2007; two brothers, Eugene and Lawrence Stoesser; two sisters, Laura Stoesser and Marjorie Hendrickson and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, February 16, 2015 from 10AM - 12:30 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 16th at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
