Henry Steele

Henry M. "Hank" Steele of Fremont Center, NY, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Sullivan County Department of Public Works in Harris, NY, and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY. He was 66.

The son of Shirley M. Neer Steele and the late Raymond Steele, he was born September 6, 1948 in Livingston Manor, NY.

Hank had attended Livingston Manor Central School; he was a decorated Vietnam Veteran proudly serving Our Country in the US Army from 1967 to 1973; he was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Obernberg, NY. Hank was a devoted husband and father; he always attended his children's sporting events; he was hard working and will be remembered for his witty humor.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy J. Pitt Steele, at home; one son, Daniel Steele and his wife Kristin of Camillus, NY; one daughter, Rebecca Abram and her husband David of Willowemoc, NY; his mother, Shirley Steele of Roscoe, NY; three brothers, Duane Steele, Darren Steele, and Randy Steele and his wife Pat; one sister, Debbie Kinne and her husband George; two step sisters, Pat Jacobs and her husband Earl and Gloria Neer and her husband Roger; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; one sister-in-law, Gloria Smith and her husband Robert; one brother-in-law, Walter Pitt and his wife Maureen; and two fur babies, Snuggles and Bella.

He was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Steele.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1 PM at St. Aloysius Church, Church Street, Livingston Manor, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
