James Bookas

James G. Bookas, 89, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away on March 16th, 2025. He is survived by his wife Joanne Bookas; daughter Maria (Dimitris) Bookas Alexopoulos; grandchildren Rebecca and Yianni Alexopoulos; sister-in-law Olga Bookas; several nieces and nephews; as well as extended family members both here and in Greece.

He came from Greece on his own at age 15 to work and provide assistance to his family back home while also making a better future for himself. He was always a hard worker which allowed him to realize his dream of owning, Jimmy’s, his own restaurant. Once he retired he always kept busy fixing things, playing his guitar but he especially enjoyed working on his garden. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years Joanne Bookas, by his family who loved him dearly, and by his friends whose lives he touched. May his memory be eternal.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Port Richey, Florida.

Burial will be in St. Nektarios Cemetery, Roscoe, NY on Wednesday March 26, 2025 at 12 Noon.
