James Hollister

James L. (JL) Hollister, 89, died peacefully on February 5, 2015 at his residence in Melbourne, Florida.

J.L. was born September 23, 1925 in Clarksburg, WV and spent his youth in Bridgeport WV.

He moved to Marietta, OH in 1964 and purchased a Sinclair Motor Fuels and Lubricants distributorship. In 1968 he acquired a petroleum jobber-ship from American Oil Company (AMOCO) and founded Par Mar Oil Co., a full line petroleum distributor of gasolines, fuels and lubricants. Par Mar later ventured into the convenience store business and continues to operate today with 51 stores and over 700 employees.

J.L. retired and moved to DeLand, FL in 1986 where he spent the winters and resided in Roscoe, NY in the summertime. In 2014 J.L. moved to Melbourne, FL.

JL assisted his wife Jane in the operation of Clear Lake Corporation in Roscoe for many years. He was a mentor for many young people and loved to teach them about the pleasures and treasures of the lake and forest at Clear Lake.

His wife of 27 years Jane Q. Hollister, died on December 20, 2014, his parents James L. and Roberta Hollister Sr., and his grandson Jason R. Hollister preceded J.L. in death.

He is survived by his son William C. and wife Kathie, of Williamstown, WV and St. James City, FL, grandchildren Dawk and wife Kristy and great grandchildren, Jared and Ellery; grandson Scott and his fiancAC.e Kaitlin; his son James A. Hollister and his wife Linda of Melbourne Beach, FL, grandchildren Casey and Lindsey and great grandchild Harper; stepsons Steve Lott and his wife Maureen of Roscoe, Bruce Lott and wife Judy of Wallkill, NY and step daughter Virginia Lott of Salinas, CA. All of J.L. siblings are alive and well, sister Mary Lou Bragg of Gransville, WV brother Bob, of Portsmouth, VA and sister Kay of Belpre, OH.

Funeral services will be private.

Burial will be in the Beaverkill Cemetery, Beaverkill, NY.
