James G. Rampe of Lew Beach, NY, a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for the Sullivan County Department of Public Works and a lifelong area resident died Thursday, January 18, 2024 at his home. He was 74.
The son of the late Andrew A. "Dutch" and Eula A. Spencer Rampe, he was born June 4, 1949 in Liberty, NY.
Jim was an avid hunter and a member of the Spruce Tree Hunting Club. He was a hard worker and ran his own stump grinding business for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching football and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary T. Kuttner Rampe, at home; one son, David Rampe and his wife Trisha of Livingston Manor, NY; one daughter, Whitney Parker Rampe of Syracuse, NY; three grandchildren, Nathan Cole Rampe, Gabriel James Rampe and Aubrey Rose Rampe, one sister, Joan Barnicott of Cortland, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Rampe and a sister, Helen Goble.
At this time the family has chosen to celebrate Jim's life privately. Dignified cremation is being provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC.
