James A. Ward of Liberty, NY, a retired iron worker and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, NY. He was 77.
The son of the late William and Julia Smith Ward, he was born January 29, 1938 in the Town of Liberty, NY.
Jim was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Liberty Elk's Lodge # 1545 where he chaired the Deer Hide Program; an a member of the Sullivan County I.O.O.B. He enjoyed farming.
Survivors include two sons, James W. Ward and his companion, Denise of Liberty, NY and Scott Ward and his wife Kimberly of Enola, PA; one daughter, Peggy Leland and her husband Kevin of Liberty, NY; one sister, Carol Hendrickson of Liberty, NY; his companion, Faye Yarnes of Liberty, NY; four grandchildren, Robert Ward, Brett Ward, Julia Leland, and Gregory Leland; one great grandson, Cole Ward and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday (today), August 2, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Liberty Elk's Lodge # 1545 will conduct services Sunday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Edward Sostak will officiate.
Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
Memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to a charity of ones' choice.
