Jean Sprague

Jean L. Sprague of Downsville, NY, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY.

The daughter of the late William and Flora Foote Tompkins she was born July 29, 1937 in Downsville, NY. She was 78.

Jean loved the outdoors where she enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and tending flowers. She was an avid spectator of the Downsville Eagle's basketball team.

Survivors include two sons, David T. Sprague and his wife Laura of Walton, NY and Timothy W. Sprague and his companion Tawny Meres of Downsville, NY; three daughters, Kathleen J. Gardner and her husband Harry of Downsville, NY, Doreen Sprague and her companion Bob Dunphy of Downsville, NY and Alicia Sprague of Downsville, NY; two sisters, Dorothy Graham of Downsville, NY and Marie Rose of Accord, NY; three brothers, Harold Tompkins and his wife Betty of Kerhonkson, NY, William B. Tompkins of Margaretville, NY and Gerald Tompkins "Skip" and his wife Ellen of Downsville, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce S. Sprague, her son, Bruce L. Sprague, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Thompson and by her brothers, John, Daniel, Martin, and Robert Tompkins.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Dale Ashby will officiate.

Burial will be in the Paige Cemetery Downsville, NY.
