John S. Fallon of Roscoe, NY, a craftsman and a retired member of the Carpenters Local 279 Union died on Friday, September 21st 2018 at Basset Memorial Hospital in Cooperstown NY. He was 69.
The son of the late Robert Edward and Jean Margaret Fallon, John was born October 11th 1948 in the town of Newport in Rhode Island.
John was a man that worked hard all his life to provide for his family. As a union carpenter he worked long hours in a physically grueling trade and combined that with a long commute. These things he did to support and provide for those he cared for. He was handy; well versed in fixing up homes as well as classical automobiles, there was not a thing he could not fix...or at least try to fix! John loved history, and especially loved reading historical fiction that combined a good story set in a historically accurate setting. He cared little for the frivolous trappings of life and instead enjoyed the simple things; a good book, a beautiful day at his favorite fishing spot, a solid and practical tool, a finely crafted bit of woodwork or architecture, time with friends and family.
John is survived by his son Jason Fallon of Brooklyn New York, his daughter Tara Fallon, his sister Sarah Fallon of Newport Rhode Island, his grandchild Emmaline Beardallis Fallon of Brooklyn New York, his large extended family in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and many friends.
He was predeceased by his sons Brian and Jamie Fallon.
Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018 from 4 to 6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, NY. Family and friends will be invited to share memories and stories at 6 PM.
